...… NCAV 2007 Winter Session Award & Recognition Recipients
NCAV hosted our 2007 Winter Awards Party at Club Argos, on Wednesday, April 11th, 2007.
Throughout the session at the end of each match, captains were asked to identify the MVP (Most
Valuable Player) and MIP (Most Improved Player) players the match.
MVP's are chosen by the opposing team captain, recognizing the individual that they felt on the
opposing team contributed to the success of the opposing team. Captains where then asked to
look at their own team, and chose a MIP. Nominations were tallied at the end of the session.
The Winter Session brings our annual award of LSP, The Jimmy Stahlard Living the Spirit Award.
“I had a wonderful time! You volleyball guys sure know how to have a good time!!” were the
sentiments from Akron guest Hugh Ilg after attending the NCAV winter Awards Party on April 11 at
Club Argos. “This is my first visit to Club Argos, as well…..I love the renovated space….it’s very
impressive!”
A near capacity crowd enjoyed the night’s festivities to share with their fellow competitiors and
friends, a wonderful completion of the winter session. “This is what it’s all about” quoted Board
member and chairman of the event, Jeff Axeburg. “Seeing all the smiling faces, hearing all the
gracious comments; makes the night very worthwhile!”
The night was completed with the presentation of the trophies for the many first place teams of this
session and the Most Valuable and Most Improved Players from each division (see below). The
highlight of the ceremony was the first presentation of the annual Jimmy Stollard award, focusing on
the player who demonstrates true leadership abilities as voted by the his fellow league members,
presented to captain Joe Wright. Alex Bruchak, original recipient of the award back in 1996 was
present to give the award to Joe Wright. The Plaque, listing the annual recipients of this award, will
remain at the home of NCAV, Club Argos!!
The fun isn’t over yet!! Watch the website for the schedule of upcoming volleyball nights at Cudell
Gymnasium as well as the announcement of the summer session!! Many thanks to Jeff Axeburg for
a wonderful evening and perfect end to a great season!!
