Code of Conduct: All Members
Please speak to your Member At Large Representatives, Officers or Executive Officers with
feedback and recommendations.
ALL MEMBERS - CODE OF CONDUCT & ETHICS
- All MEMBERS are responsible for knowing all of the league rules and session format, which
can be found on the website, "www.NorthCoastAthletics.org".
- Humanity - Members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of every NCAV member,
spectator, sponsor, and their ultimate right to self-determination. Specifically, members must
treat everyone equitably and sensitively, within the context of their activity and ability,
regardless of gender, ethnic origin, cultural background, sexual orientation, religion or
political affiliation. This organization is in place to serve the GLBT community, and therefore
the Board reserves the sole right to deny and/or revoke membership based on
unacceptable behavior that interferes or contradicts the organizations support of the GLBT
community. Members will conduct themselves with an acute awareness of life altering and
impacting issues facing the members of a GLBT & Straight Alliance organization, including
but not limited to, HIV/AIDS, hate crimes, hate actions, hostile work or play environment.
- Confidentiality - Members inevitably intentionally or unintentionally gather a great deal of
personal information about other members in the course of belonging to an organization.
Members must reach agreement about what is to be regarded as confidential information (i.
e.) not divulge to a third party without the express approval of the other member. Members
will avoid disclosing information surrounding: (1) professions, affiliations, personal beliefs,
sexual orientation, ethnic origination, (2) legal matters, (3) disciplinary actions, (4) financial
and/or economic information, and (4) matters under federal HIPPA protection including, but
not limited to, health matters.
- Safety - within the limits of a member's control, members have a responsibility to ensure as
for as possible the safety of the themselves and other members with whom they play. All
reasonable steps should be taken to establish a safe playing environment. The athletic
performance and the manner in which it is done should be in keeping with the regular and
approved practice with their sport as determined by USAV, NAGVA and NCA The activity
undertaken should be suitable for the age, physical and emotional maturity, experience
and ability of the member. Members are required to notify officials, board members and
staff if there are any concerns regarding safety. Members should be systematically
prepared for the activity and be aware of their personal responsibilities in terms of safety.
- Sportsmanship - Sportsmanship is defined as playing fair, following the rules of the game,
respecting the judgment of referees and officials, and treating opponents with respect.
NCAV is privileged to serve its membership. In turn, members are privileged to belong to
this organization. Members are required to demonstrate good sportsmanship qualities at all
times. Members will demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during and after games and
matches.
- Members will respect the game, play fairly and follow its rules and regulations. They will
show respect for authority to the Board of Directors, officials of the game and of the league.
Each individual in the organization will help other players, fans and interested parties
understand the league philosophy. Members will always demonstrate courteous and
respectful acknowledgements to opposing teams, their team, and treat all players and
coaches with respect. Each individual will be modest when successful and be gracious in
defeat, respect the privilege of the use of public facilities, and refrain from the use of drugs,
tobacco, alcohol and abusive language.
CONDUCT VIOLATION NOTIFICATION & DECISIONING PROCESS
The Board of Directors reserves the right to review any/all violations and decisions of our
code of conduct. The Board will always attempt to remedy problems or issues by first
issuing a verbal warning, then written warning, then suspension, then expulsion from the
organization. The Board will reserve the right to advance to any stage in the decision and
action that is in best interest of the organization. A quorum of officers is required to review,
approve and execute any action. However, NCAV guidelines promotes unanimous
consensus on all actions to demonstrate a solid position of our leadership.
