Code of Conduct: Captains
Please speak to you Member At Large Representatives, Officers or Executive Officers with
feedback and recommendations.
CAPTAINS CONDUCT, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The following items are responsibilities in addition to those listed in Code of Conduct: ALL
MEMBERS.
- The captain is responsible for knowing all of the league rules and session format, which can
be found on the website, "www.NorthCoastAthletics.org".
- Captains understand the acknowledgement of their team as appointed leader within the
organization. Captains are responsible to understand the NCA organization's structure,
Board Leadership, session rules, session format, forfeit guidelines, rating process, division
definitions, captains roles and responsibilities, and ALL Members' Code-of-Conduct.
- As Captain, each agree that he/she is a role model for his/her team members and all
participants involved in the activity, and that sports help to develop a sense of teamwork,
self-worth and sportsmanship.
- Captains will place the emotional and physical well being of their players ahead of a
personal desire or external pressure to win. They will do their best to provide a safe playing
environment for all participants. Each captain will lead by example by demonstrating fair
play and sportsmanship to all involved. They will promote a sports environment that is free of
drugs, tobacco, alcohol and abusive language and refrain from their use at all sporting
events. Captains will respect the game and the league officials and communicate with
them in an appropriate manner. Captains will be knowledgeable of the league rules and
regulations and teach these rules to all players on my team.
- Captains will encourage team members to play by the league rules and respect the rights
of other players, coaches, fans and officials. They will be responsible for their own behavior
and also the behavior of their team members.
- The captain is responsible for having all of his/her teams contact information, and making
sure that they have his or hers. The captain is responsible for maintaining an understanding
of the team's desires, challenges, or requests of the organization. Captains are required to
keep NCA leaders informed by sharing insight along with recommendations for
improvement.
- The captain is responsible for making sure that his/her team shows up on time to get warmed
up and be ready to play/ref the games.
- The captain is responsible for obtaining information and updates to his/ her team.

- The captain is responsible for picking an MVP from each opposing team and a MIP from
their own team for each match and write those names on the score card or index card. The
captain is responsible for signing the score sheet after the game and making sure that the
information on it is correct.
